Keep Up the Good Arts

Arts energize. Arts empower. Arts educate. Arts are for everyone.

We are proud of the good arts we’ve made so far and excited for what’s to come. We completed our merger with our sister organization, the Vermillion Area Arts Council, which means VCA is now Vermillion’s central arts and culture organization. We continue to welcome new artworks for the Vermillion Sculpture Walk and showcasing the works of area artists at the Coyote Gallery. We run the Messy Hands Arts Camp every summer. We encourage spontaneous filmmaking at the annual Fool’s 48 Short Film Project & Showcase. We’re hosting the second annual Vortex Film Festival at the Coyote Twin Theater Sept 26–28, 2025, featuring movies produced by regional Midwest filmmakers and filmed in South Dakota and neighboring states. And we continue to upgrade our cinema hardware to provide the best movie magic experience (and popcorn!) for miles, despite the never-ending challenges of the movie biz. We are—as ever—committed to being the change we want to see in the world.

How you can help power our mission:

  1. Donate: We rely on individual donations, and every dollar counts. VCA is not a membership organization, though we welcome annual gifts.

  2. Share: Share our story and our campaign with your friends, family, and on social media. Your advocacy can amplify our impact.

  3. Volunteer: Your time and skills can make an impact too! Consider joining the #vermcult by becoming a Programming Committee member or an event volunteer.

Thank you for supporting our mission. Your arts advocacy is why Vermillion can tout the title Best Small-Town Art Scene in America!
