This year is our biggest year in arts yet! In May, we welcomed a new set of artworks for the Vermillion SculptureWalk. This summer we ran the Messy Hands Summer Arts Camp on behalf of our sister organization, the Vermillion Area Arts Council, as we prepared to merge under one mission. And in September, the Coyote Twin Theater hosted the inaugural Vortex Film Festival, featuring movies produced by regional Midwest filmmakers and filmed in South Dakota and neighboring states. Even as we expanded our programming, the movie business took a hit with the slowest summer since 2021, and the needed upgrades to our cinema hardware this fall mean we’ve incurred some financial risk.
